Employment law - Dismissal claims
Members of 4-5 Gray's Inn Square have appeared in countless claims for unfair dismissal in Employment Tribunals throughout the United Kingdom and in the Employment Appeal Tribunal and are extremely familiar with the particular forensic and strategic demands of these forums. Our members have been instructed in many of the leading cases and have acted for or against many prominent public figures and organisations.
We set particular store by the provision of continuing professional development and non-litigious advice in this area where the legislation is currently subject to radical change. We ensure that our clients are kept abreast of developments such as the dispute resolution reforms which commenced in October 2004.
Members also advise and represent employers and employees involved in internal disciplinary procedures, where a fair and lawful resolution at an early stage can avoid lengthy and expensive litigation.
In relation to employment contracts and their termination, members of Chambers have extensive experience of redundancy matters, both in terms of litigation and of the creation and implementation of redundancy schemes.
We are frequently instructed in contractual cases in the employment field, from damages and injunctive claims for wrongful dismissal to the negotiation of employee severance arrangements or directors’ termination packages. In a commercial context we can also deal with any associated partnership disputes and/or shareholders’ applications in the Companies Court.
We are experienced in taking employment disputes of all kinds to mediation, enabling both parties to avoid the expense and the lack of flexibility of tribunal proceedings.
